Max Levy performs often throughout the Kansas City metro area, playing an eclectic mix of straight-ahead jazz music at various venues. Max can also be seen performing with prominent ensembles including Son Venezuela, KC FLO, Baby J, Brass Rewind, PianoManning, AmeriFloyd, Moment's Notice, and countless others. Max originally hails from southeastern North Carolina where he acquired a bachelor's degree in jazz performance from East Carolina University under the tutelage of educator/bassist Carroll Dashiell. Max still performs there whenever possible. He made his way to Kansas City to attend UMKC in 2016 to study with Bobby Watson and Dan Thomas and has remained ever since. Max now serves on the UMKC Conservatory Alumni Board. In addition to performing, Max teaches private lessons, while also being a part of the Kansas City Jazz Academy at 18th & Vine. Max Levy is also a substitute jazz DJ at KKFI and co-hosts The Jazz Jam Podcast.
